Kamloops G&CC Implements Interesting Safety Rules
To improve staff safety, Kamloops G&CC are implementing the "30 second rule," requiring cooperation from both golfers and staff. When a worker is within range of a player’s shot, players must wait until they wave you on or clear the area. Staff must be aware of golfers and not let anyone wait more than 30 seconds. They will move to safety and signal you through.

Both the Zone 2 Men's Championship/Qualifier and Senior Men's Championship/Qualifier were held Saturday and Sunday, May 25th and 26th at Revelstoke Golf & Country Club. Day one saw weather affecting play for the first half of the day.
Amateur
The challenging weather on the first day didn't bother Oakley Mayner who carded a fine 5 under par 67. Also shooting sub par rounds were Brooks Lancaster (Penticton GC) and TIm Hachey (Osoyoos GC) at 2 under 70. Finley Dober and Nate Ward were even at 72 while Wyatt Brook was 1 over at 73.
Round 2 offered a pleasant day and good golf weather. Wyatt Brook carded a great 5 under par 67, while Jeffrey Paulson and Joshua Laverdiere carded 2 under 70's and Andrew Rouble shot a 1 under 71. Oakley shot a 73 forcing a playoff between he and Wyatt Brook. Oakley sunk a 15 foot putt on the 3rd playoff hole to win.
2024 Seniors
At the end of the competition, it would be Norm Bradley (Kelowna G & CC) a perennial Zone 2 Senior Men's Champion who would claim his sixth title in seven years with a hard fought victory. Brian Clark (Kelowna G & CC) finished Runner-Up to Norm at 75, while Stewart Scott (Harvest GC) claimed the third and last spot after winning a 2 hole playoff versus Todd Wiseman.
2024 ZONE 2 JUNIOR GOLF TOUR presented by PRIVATE SKY AVIATION
By Ken Oleschuk - Zone 2 conducts its own Junior Golf Tour from April through June at courses throughout the Thompson Okanagan Region. In addition to the Junior Tour schedule of tournaments, the Zone also holds the Zone 2 Junior Championship (June 1-2 this year) at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club.
The season long Order of Merit winner was Tim Hachey who received a trophy plus a $100 Gift Certificate for a fitting at Golftec.
The Junior Champion at Gallaghers’ was Ryan Vest who shot two-under par 142 for the two rounds. For his efforts, he earned the same prizes. Kudos to the competitors who completed their rounds on day two within the expected time of 4 hours 33 minutes, nearly 45 minutes faster than the day previous. Note that these are exactly the conditions the players would play if they attend a BC Championship.
The prize presentation following included some special presentations including a plaque to Peter Hopley and Gallagher's Canyon Golf Club in appreciation of the course serving as the home of the Junior Championship for several years, while also recognizing that Peter has been a best friend of the Junior Tour, assisting in numerous ways and helping to elevate the experience of the players. The plaque was presented by Laurie Vest who also expressed thanks to the Junior Tour for enabling the players to compete in a well organized environment.
